JChrist
Hello everyone. I want to create some renderings (with radiosity) of an indoors scene (a room) lit by a photometric light, while having a daylight system. The room has a window and a glass-door (french door), so light can get through both ways. The thing is that while I set the daylight system to IES Sun and IES Sky, i still don't get quality renderings, because the room gets weird lighting and shadows (like the light from the sun is passing through the walls), although I am absolutely sure that there aren't any problems with the geometry of the scene. Any help about my problem would be extremely appreciated! Thanks! ps: i attached a sample rendering to give you a better clue about the weird shadows. In the picture i have removed the door and there is just the opening shown…
Devin Johnston
I'd say the shadows are being caused by what ever geometry the sun light is passing through but without more information it's impossable to say. Also what program are you using to render with?
JChrist
Thanks for the response. Now, I'm running radiosity in 3ds Max Design 2011. That's what I'm guessing too, that it seems like the light from the sun is getting through the walls. There is nothing else between the room and the sun. The picture I attached is just outside that room. What is hardly or not seen in the room is a bookcase (aligned to the left wall) and a table with 2 chairs (also aligned to the left wall). I have created the room by aligning the walls with the floor and the ceiling (all of them are simple boxes), so that they don't overlap and also there aren't any gaps between them. JChrist
Well, I tried creating the room by first creating a box. Then I deleted the inside of the box (compound objects, boolean) with a second box just a little smaller than the first(in all xyz axes) as the second opperand. Lastly, I created the opening for the door with anothe boolean operation. The results remain the same, the strange shadows are still there in the exact same spots...
