Networking two PC's

• I have two laptops and a network cable (no hub)
  
• Both runs on Win 7 Ultimate OS with a 32bit engine
  
• Being trying a week to network the two to see each other so I can create a farm and node (Rendering Farm).
  
• Can someone put me through line by line on how to go about it?
  
• Help greatly appreciated in advance.

I'm certainly no expert on networking but I think that if you are trying to network without a hub then you'll need a crossover cable as opposed to a standard patch cable

You can spen 20$ on a hub or 20$ on a usb network cable

Isn't the cross over cable the one with two clips one on each end? Because I use to do this with headaches in the days of XP to share internet connection.

For two PC's only I see no need for a hub but might look into the USB network option. Pray I find that here in NIgeria as am yet to know one even existed in the first place.
