Crazy Homeless Guy
We are going through the process of upgrading to Windows7 Enterprise in our office. Since my machine was switched out I have been getting the error below at least 3 times a day. It only gives me the option to close or to close and check for a solution. Which means I can't save my work, I can only force Max to shutdown. I don't really think Max is crashing because I am getting the same error on my render farm, but on the render farm the frame continues to render, and the shuts max down and re-launched when the next frame comes. All without forcing to close. Anyway, has anyone else had this problem, or does anyone have a solution to fix it?
datacrasher
have you tried add a service pack? if not then i would install this from the autodesk website Travis. max also makes backup's in your hard drive in the autodesk folder i would try deleteing the max.ini file it may have been corrupted sometime this happen in max once you have delete the max.ini file you will need to reset your computer autodesk will replace the ini file with a new one try saving your project again. if this does not work then i would contact the autodesk support team and see what they said Good luck DC
allanclimaco
hey guys i found the solution, here is what you do, go to c:Users/******/Appdata/Local/autodesk--- (make sure you unhide your folders so that you can view the appdata and other folder that are hidden) and then delete autodesk, then start 3ds max 2012 or what ever version you use
Scott Schroeder
According to the Autodesk windows chart, Enterprise isn't listed. Then of course, they only list Windows Pro. However, I don't think that it wouldn't be compatible with it. It could be a video driver issue as well. Maybe your video card drivers won't play nice with Windows Enterprise. Perhaps there is a permissions issue? Maybe there is a max script that runs that Windows doesn't like. But the crash isn't enough to close Max during a render but a user instance it freezes Max. I had issues with older scripts written using ActiveX. Since Max 9 ActiveX has been on the out and out in favor of .Net scripts. When does Max crash? Is it random or is it during the same process? I'd try a clean running of Max, no custom scripts or UI. Run it all in default settings and put it though the paces.
John Dollus
Scott, this is from 2010 so I assume Travis has sorted out the issue by now....
