I am having problems getting light through the glass in the windows. I have placed two omni lights inside the house and have add materials to internal walls so that I could get some light to bouce around. The glass on the windows is an arch and design material (see screen shot). I am using mental ray with a Daylight system. Thankyou for your help
Justin Hunt
Typically I like to set the glass objects to "Pass Through FG" and if your using Photons then turn OFF "Generate GI" These are set in the object Properties -> Mentalray Quick question, why is Translucency turn on for the glass material ? jhv

Well, I thought that it had a similar effect to Transparency? According to the Mental ray docs, there is a difference. Translucency here works in exactly the same way as the Translucency shader. It allows a surface to be diffusely lit from behind, in the way that frosted glass is back-lit. The higher the translucency value, the more the back-lighting effects the surface. (For more information, see the Translucency shader.) Cheers Edited June 17, 2010 by Ausmax
