djoshi
I have ready animated character(with Mocap walk cycle). I want to move it to another location..! But I am unable to do so. Problems.. 1) If I move it using center node, it moves but as soon as i play animation it comes to its original position and walks from there only. 2) If I group it, It moves & also remains in position. but vertex start coming out of it. Anybody can tell me that how can i move this character at another position ???

datacrasher
also if you cannot move the biped then you need to delete the mocap file and move the biped to where you want it then reapply the mocap file
dpcaltdcah
you definitely can't group them. ever. I dunno why, it's kind of silly. you should, like datacrasher said, select the bip object and then on the Motion Tab under "Biped" click the "move all mode" button. It's a circle with a little arrow coming out of the top. Make sure it's the only button in that panel activated. You really shouldn't have to reapply the mocap data. datacrasher
Cassandra. You can group the biped by going to select by name and selecting all the biped parts then choose group them as one but once you do this all the biped parts will be group if you do this then you won't able to move any of the biped(s) body parts..... dpcaltdcah
Yes, I understand how to group things, but like the original poster said, if you do that, they tend to behave strangely. Vertices fly off into space etc. I'm assuming we're talking about bipeds you bought somewhere like axyz, of course. Not one someone made themselves. datacrasher
thats may happen if he groups the biped, biped are not really meant to be grouped b/c the biped is animatable the only reason why you would need to be grouped is when your putting a mesh on-top of the biped. so you dont select the biped part(s) and move them by mistake. dpcaltdcah
Grouped or not, my point was that he should use the move all button on the biped rollout of the motion panel, not the regular move tool. Because they're not the same.
datacrasher
I don't have time to get into a p contest If you select the arm and use the rotate button then the arm will rotate you cannot do this in the motion panel also in the motion panel you can change the structure use the footsteps etc.
dpcaltdcah
I'm not trying to insult you, just trying to help this person. They're not trying to move the individual body parts, they just asked how to move the entire biped to a new place while preserving the mocap data. They don't want to use footsteps or change structure or anything else. You said use the move tool and/or reapply the mocap and I'm suggesting the move all button might work a little better in this particular circumstance in order to preserve the mocap info. I didn't want them to have to reapply all their mocap files. We don't have to agree, that's ok.
djoshi
Sorry...! for replying so late.. but was busy in that project..! I have got the solution for that, there is one small button in motion palatte named "Move all mode" in biped rollout. with that you can move, rotate the character easily.. Thnxs..!
