Hi guys.

Project that I am struggling with a bit.

Client Brief: all masonary shades of grey. Must look realistic on site. Must be clear distinction between silvery metal cladding and glass. Glass corners must be clearly defined.

No people cars trees or plants to be added.

C & C very welcome.

Will post more views shortly.

yeah the fine arts degree wasn't a total waste of time :) . I didn't use light tracer for this project (although i am much more fimiliar with it than radiosity) becuase of the time constraints.

thanks man , am much more experienced with photoshop than max.

I have spent about 4 days on it although there were quite a couple of changes that the client wanted to my first renders. That is why i posted it because i was a bit demotivated thinking that i will not be able to satisfy him. He has since been here again and seems reasonably pleased although he did not like the distorted perspectives created by the wide-angle lens of the camera. I have since changed the perspectives in photoshop and i am pretty pleased with the result. I will start working on the next views now and post them shortly.

Nice image. I have a couple of comments to bounce off you. I believe the "halo" of white clouds directly above the building it distracting. In the thumbnail on the cga, it's the first thing I see. Keep the sky mostly blue to contrast your mostly white building though.

The second thing I focus on is the white reflection on the windows on the lower half of the building. And I really like this effect, because it communicates the character of the glass very well. But can this effect happen in other windows on that side of the building? Or is the glare being blocked by the neighboring building? Just a suggestion.

Looks really nice. That's a tough match. Quick comments...

To the right of the balconies, the color appears to change from the darker one (above) to something like the lightest on that side of the building. Meant to be? [same thing CRD mentions second actually]

It looks like you've got glass between interior and balcony (groups of 3)??? If so, it would be nice to see a little variation from unit to unit. Maybe partially open blinds here and there. As consistant as it is it appears to be solid walls and a little too close in color to the finish on the hard surfaces.

A little seam in the sky just over the building there?

Thanx for the tips people. I agree that the glass seems a bit monotonous. You should have seen it before i snuck in those alternating glass panels. Unfortunately i doubt the client would alow me to open some up although i'm sure it would look nice. I have realised in the meanwhile that my material somehow didn't work on those sliding doors - they are actually suppose to reflect. Will fix.

i'll defenitely look in to that white cloud blob. The reason for the rest of the clouds is to define the corner windows.

rendering time = aprox 15 mins 2800 x 2000

1.5 ghz amd

Cant wait till i get my boxx.

Although its a nice image, I'd like to see you get rid of that ominous cloud above. It looks and it feels like a death-star laser beam is about to obliterate it...or angels are about to come down from it...or...well, its just my opinion. :D
