Matt Sugden
Hi Guys, I have a client who is keen to explore clash detection as part of a construction review. I have found that Navisworks can do this and I am just about to download the 30day trial from the autodesk website. Just wondered if anyone else on this forum has Navisworks experience particularly accessing the clash detection functions, and could give me their insight into it. I'm keen to know how comprehensive the clash detection is and how it works,. Is the package tricky to use and how different is the interface to say other packages such as AutoCAD / Max. Is it the sort of thing one could pick up fairly quickly or is it going to take months of playing around to get to know the package? Dave Buckley
Bewdy. Navis is a really easy product to get to grips with. Clas detection tools are excellent. Numerous different ways of clash testing - architecture v structure v mep or ducts v beams. All can be saved off and reports given from each clash. It even creates snapshots of each clash it finds and highlights clashing components in red for review and markup. You can set tolerances so only check for clashes if objects are within a certain distance apart. Best thing to do is call your local reseller or CADassist and tell them you want to see clash detection in navis and they'll no doubt arrange a suitable time to come and demo it to you Hope it helps
