Exploring 3ds max. Manage to import an autocad model in max where do I go from here?

I suggest going online and check some of the many tutorials that they have.

You can also buy some books for reference. 3ds max is too large of a program

to grasp all at once. When you have the basics down, I'm sure some of the members

will answer some of your questions.

Good luck..

Okay, than go to your local library, bookstore, school,etc...

I'm just trying to tell you that it's not a program that

you will learn overnight. If you want to explore 3d, try sketchup

to begin with.

I know it not an overnight software. Used it in the days of version 3.1 then it was own by Kinetic. My final destination is Vray, but have to pass Max. What I need to know now is how to make and assign materials then gradually take it from there to the next stage.

Do the tutorials that ship with Max. Do all of them, in order.

Tommy has a point. You can also go to the autodesk website and they have

lots of tutorials in pdf format that you can download. Also, they have the

support files, so you can follow along with the tutorials.

Best of luck.

Go to Google and search for the thousands and thousands of articles and tutorials that have been posted. Just coming in and asking people to tell you where to go doesn't give the impression that you have actually tried to figure it out on your own.

Online because there is a lot of information already available. If you want offline, then buy the 3dats books.

i have to agree with Gus we are you not here to teach you max how to import and export stuff from one program to another. As Gus "said look online there are a lot of tutorials out there and books in shops" we can answer question but we are not here to do the job for you. we answer questions LOOK ONLINE then you may learn something new.
