Gnarly Cranium
I'm starting to wonder just why it is that EasyNat is so plugged-- yes, the flexibility of the models is great, the detail is great... but what the heck is the POINT of shipping it with Max 6 if the thing has serious video driver issues?!! EasyNat gives me error messages when I run it, telling me that it won't work right in anything but Software mode. This would appear to be correct-- every so often the trees and plants I've been testing out (the demo models) turn white-gray and bizarre looking. The 2D plants don't come out well at all in OpenGL or D3D.... but if I run Max in Software mode, ALL of the rest of the geometry looks like absolute heck, with clipping errors up the wazoo. Great, huh? I have a GeForce FX 5950Ultra video card, on an Opteron 150 machine with 2 gigs of RAM. The power is there... why the heck does Max insist that it's run out of memory and crash as soon as I try to scatter 20 flowers on a flat plane and then switch them from 2D to Hybrid mode? This is ridiculous! I was hoping EasyNat would be as good as it sounds, and be worth the steep plant price and low library selection, for a major project I have going-- but it's looking like I may have to start hunting for something else!
