Stan Zaslavsky
hi all, i'm working on a park visualisation and am a bit stumped i'm trying to create a material for a walking path - something that will blend into the nearby materials - is it possible to do it this way? or should i create a path separately and give it a different material then? i have a single surface that i have given a mutli material - one of those materials the light grey one is the walkway the other mateirals i've just given a very simple treatment - nothing specific yet - so dont take notice of them i'm using mental ray as the renderer
jinsley
I would vote for uvw map... and paint a large site texture in PS... if it will be an aerial view.
Justin Hunt
Do a screen grab of the top viewport, open it in Photoshop and use it as a guide to paint masks and textures maps of the parks, paths garden beds etc. If the texture is high enough res it will be more than OK for aerial views. For the main paths, either Shape merge the paths out of the surfece or use the Glue script to drop a spline onto the surfece then extrude. jhv
Stan Zaslavsky
great pointers guys - i tried rendering the scene with some trees and my machine got to 30% and said no more memory .. so i'll definitely have to utilise PS heavily in this scene
nelpiper
Go to the Itoo page free plugins and get the colorEdge. It does exactly what your looking for. Good luck.
