Ky

it depends on what you want to do lets say "you want the path to follow the shape" Example lets say you create a line and then a circle You need to select the path that would be the line then you need to get the shape that would be the circle, If you do it the other way around that will screw up If i can say that the loft. so make sure you choose the path then choose the shape

from your image i copied into the background of max i did the following above and i got this shape. max has it own sections built in if you use the sweep modifer Or you can use the create your own custom shape if you create a line in the modifer list you the sweep create that shaape you have then put the dot in own custom shape then choose the pick then max will create the shape

Good luck

mmm ky you could always scale down the line two to make line one smaller but i am not sure what you want to do really i just copied the background image you posted into max and traced the second shape then used the sweep and loft i got the same shape

OK, it has to be a scale problem. When I select my shape (the L shape on the right) it says its correctly 10cm high by 20cm wide. When I select the path (which should be something along the lines of 250m high and 500m wide) It says its 30xm by 18cm....

So, anyone know how I can reset the dimensions to what it actually is in the scene? Everything else is to scale in the scene - this path is correct to look at, but its dimensions seem wildly screwed up (probably when I imported it from an AI and scaled it up to fit).

Any ideas?

Hey Ky,

you're right about the scale being messed up from AI import. Apply a Reset X-form to the path and convert to spline. You should be able to use sweep at the correct size after this. I tried it on your scene and it worked. BTW the scene wanted to open up with inches as the system units - you may wish to change that. (in your next project scene)
