3DS Max vs REVIT

Hi everyone

 

i have been using 3ds max for a year to do interior renders. a friend of mine has suggested using Revit. Does anyone have an oppinion on this. Is Revit easier to use, do you get the same effects or better ?

 

any help would be appreciated

Hey Warren, I've used both Revit and 3ds Max and I can tell you that Max is far more well suited for what we do than Revit. Max is more efficient and powerful. If the Revit model is done, then use it. If not, don't even bother, unless you plan on generating construction documents from your model.

I've had experience with both revit and 3dsmax; here's my take: Revit's main strength is the ease of producing construction documents and schedules. As a design tool, it is cumbersome, and a huge headache. At the architecture firm I previously worked for, they sent my project team out for professional revit training so that we could use it in the design development of a high rise that had lots of facets and angles. During the training, we tried getting the instructor to give us suggestions as to how we would go about modeling such a thing in revit, and he was stumped....
