Jet
Modeled both of these projects using all 3dsmax! Box modeling is my new best friend! the first image is light tracer, which took oh, FOREVER, the second is using standard lights took about a minute and a half to render on a amd 1.3 ghz machine comments are appreciated Jet
Buffalo Bills
Nice Modeling. I think the frame work is a little large but all in all good job. Can you explain box modeling?
Jet
well i am pretty new to modeling in 3dmax too, but i keep figuring things out all the time now. some things are beginning to click for me. as far as box modeling, i just traced my floor plan outline that i imported from autocad, and then extruded it the plate heights and then converted it to polygons, going into the edge and polygone and segment sub object modes and using the edit buttons in the dialog like extrude, bevel, and inset, to make the doors, windows and frames and roof. that entire model came from one line. and i used one multi sub object material to apply materials to it, i have like 5 materials in there. and that is it. I remember when i first started using max and not knowing that one thing would make me run out of material slots. I used to hate that, im glad i know now. thanks for the comments too! Jet ps there is a very good tutorial on low poly modeling in the resources section of the site that you can use to learn box modeling as well. kid
your lighting looks a little grey, maybe add a bit of colour to your lighting. ...so have you given up on accurender totally now?
IC
I think your standard light one is pretty good. Just needs a bit more illumination. On the first image, there is a brick projection at the front entrance and the texture doesn't seem to align with the return panel.
Jet
thanks kid, well i still have the accurender software yes, and until recently before i started having 3dsmax modeling brain gusts! (finally) i would model something in autocad and then use accurender as a really quick and dirty check on the model. But now, i dont know anymore. i think its awesome as a way to start learning methods of applying materials and stuff like that for extreme new beginners, but as you grow and learn of other capabilities of some of the other packages, you have to move on. oh well!!! 3dsmax it is Jet
