Crazy Homeless Guy
I was doing research today on methods to improve our NPR work and I came across this nifty freeware tool that is bad ass. Run your renderings through it to process them into different painted effects that are far nicer than what the Photoshop plugins will give you directly. http://www.fotosketcher.com/index.htm I don't think I would recommend using the results directly, but this is going to come in really handy for processing base layers to build on. Some of the default results are a bit cheeky, but using them to build on might be very powerful and fast. They also have a batch process mode so I am thinking I could even run frames of an animation through it. Anyway, here are a couple of quick results that are direct images from the tool with no modifications. The first image is the base rendering of an auditorium. The next series of images are processed through Foto Sketcher with no additional work done in Photoshop. .
Crazy Homeless Guy
One more... this one takes a few of the separate passes from the post above, and combines them in Photoshop.

Justin Hunt
the oil painting one really does it for me, the final one suffers what most "plug-in" based NPR processes, the dark tones are too strong and over powering. Nifty tool, nice one jhv
Justin Hunt
Just been playing, man its really cool. One of the better NPR tools around. Its a bit tool random for animation but still effective. jhv

Is it possible to post a link to the animation test? ....I might not mind the effect dancing around.

BrianKitts
Looks like some of their updates have greatly improved the software! Someone posted this a few months back and I gave it a shot.... http://forums.cgarchitect.com/41141-looking-better-way-make-npr-style-illustrations.html#post284456 ..... the preview was pretty sluggish using a full resolution image, but keep it low to get your settings right and it works quite well! 1d2d3d4d
if you push 'esc' during the build/render it stops at that point and you can copy it to clipboard/whetever.. i thought some of the paintstyles looked really neat only half rendered

alias_marks
I wanted to drop by and add my thanks for sharing this find. Very cool tool, and love how you can just copy and paste layers of photoshop from the clipboard. It's been awesome and I've already started using it on some projects. Will post some results when I get a chance. Nice find.
M V
This is a fantastic program. I've spoken to the developer to see if he was thinking about making a direct plug-in for Photoshop, but it wasn't on his radar. He did promise me some future releases with much cooler options for filtering. Can't wait to see it!
