Hey guys,

I've spent way to much time trying to figure this one out, any help would be sweeeeet.

I've been a long time 3DS max and Maxwell Render user but recently I have started to deal with Revit dwgs. Ive imoprted ACIS solids and Polymesh DWGs from the original Revit file and here is what happens:(fyi I know all about the fbx option am Im trying to figure out the dwg possibilities)

1: render without doing anything. Result= certain objects are missing(some exterior walls)Example- Directrender.jpg

2: apply the defualt Maxwell material to all objects.Result= same objects are missingExample- DirectrenderWdefaultmat.jpg

3: Import as one entity(looks fine) but apply a default maxwell material and.... Result= the whole model turns into flats planes.Example- Oneentityanddefualmat.jpg

Ive heard about people exporting revit models via DWG to autcad and doing somthing to the model before import to MAX...I'd like to hear how that works. Basically we have 3 export options from revit and 20 import options in Max + all the maxwell settings.....i'm a little lost.

What am I missing here? What is most appropiate workflow with Revit - Max - Maxwell??

Thanks guys,

Figured it out!

Wanted to post the solution here, so mabey someone else won’t have to spend as much time as I did trying to figure that out.

When Revit exports via DWG it creates instances from some objects, so when rendering with Maxwell Render you have to make sure the “use instances” checkbox is unchecked in the render options idalog box!

The pic where the model flattened out to planes is resolved by going to the utilities panel in 3DS MAX and hitting the ResetXform button,....Viola!
