Are we in danger of everything having the gi look?

Very well put. The more I think about it the more I realize that the problems isn't so much a software issue, it's a purpose issue. It's difficult to make a model with more than one purpose. The problem with the model mentioned above is that it's purpose wasn't for rendering so it would be very difficult to convert it to that. I ran into a very similar problem recently when asked to do a walkthrough of a building that's in revit. One might think having a full revit model would save loads of time, but it doesn't because the purpose of a revit model isn't rendering. There are important parts which are in 2d still, each wall is it's own geometry, there's a LOT of unneeded geometry, some things like door frames are not nearly detailed enough etc.

 

The interface is too simple, there isn't 20 ways to do the same thing....its not natural!

 

Haha! I have the opposite issue with 3ds Max. What do you mean each tool only does 1 thing? How can people work like this!
