Er1Ck
Hello CG people! Im busy creating an architectural visualisation containing metal grids. I thought it is a good idea to create the grid in a material to avoid an overcomplex model. (image of what kind of grid im talking about, in the visualisation i'll see the grids on approx 5 - 10m camera distance.) I created a standard grey material and added an 'tiles' opacity map. This works, however it does not contain the depth which is needed to determine the transparancy of the grid while viewing it from an angle. I tried working with displacement maps, i cant really make it work. Can anyone please help me? Thanks in advance, Erik
Er1Ck
more information: this is the model, the mesh texture should contain the metal grid!
Claudio Branch
Model it. Create a plane with high number of segments, convert to Editable Poly, choose all of the edges and use Create Shape from Selection, turn on Renderable Spline for the new shape and modify the dimensions to suit. Done.
