Hay roof texture help

Hello,

I need to make roofs made of hay, dry, yellow but i have no clue a to how to aproach this texture.

 

Has anyone ever made something like this ? kind of adobe housing roofing ?

i have been to a straw bale building event a Time or two

There are some local architects/builders/human beings

 

who like building These here in the arizona area

those are great references i got like 2 days of modeling until i figure it out, hopefully inpiration will hit me )

I made a thatched roof with LightWave's Saslite(hair and fur generator).

I used guides to 'grow' coarse fibres in clumps and it worked quite well.

 

If you have something similar it might be worth a go as it's not easy to model/texture traditionally.
