mskin
i just fresh installed max design 2010. Upon launching program for the first time the program "unexpectedly quits". of, course, after the third attempt it is no longer "unexpected". any ideas what could be causing this? i have run max 2010 on this machine successfully before - prior to reinstalling OS (XP PRO SP 3 - QUAD CORE - 2GIGS RAM) i tried reinstalling (after unistalling) and launching it as a different user. this is very bad for me. thanks
Cyberstyle
I had the same issue here at work. Installed fine, try to open but Max quits before fully loading up a few times, then nothing at all. I had to un-install all the antivirus software, turn off the firewalls, install Max and then re-install the virus software. Then it worked fine. A pain in the ass too, because it was on 6 seperate machines. 2010 was the only version I had problems with.
mskin
oh no. what anti virus out of curiosity? - and did you try just shutting it down before uninstalling it? Edited August 12, 2010 by mskin
Cyberstyle
We have Symantec AV. Yes tried just shutting it down - that's what I would normaly do, but it did not work. Tried to create exceptions and every option with the AV but each step gave the same result. Removing the AV was the only way I could get Max to run after install. Members posted up an install issue with Max 2010 and Symatec and a 'solution' was on the Autodesk Area forum but it did not work for me. I had to completely remove it first. Cyberstyle
Sorry Herbert, the process I used as I mentioned got me going without a problem. I'm not sure what else it could be. I don't know what your setup is like but I think it also had to be installed under the administrators account too. We have roaming profiles on our network which may have been part of the problem? alrawli
Recently got 2 new machines with Dual X5650 processors so 24 cores in total, max 10 has a problem recognising these or at least the mental ray installer does. If you change the name of the mentalray.dlo file it doesnt load on startup and lets max run. I realise this isnt a fix if you use mental ray but if you use Vray it works fine.
