askdeco
Hello Guys, I have 3 Blade Server with Windows Server 2008R2 64bits installed, each server have more than 16cores and 12GB ram. i installed 3Ds max 2009 with latest service packs and hotfixes + vRay 2009 now if i run 3Ds max it runs normaly, and i can choose vRay as renderer and render normaly, but when i use vraySpawner to make a Distributed rendering, the spawner runs, than opens 3D max for a send, than 3d max crashes and it keeps doing this until i exit vraySpawner. can anyone help me Please
Matt McDonald
"the spawner runs, than opens 3D max for a send" Max is launching on the remote machines? As in the gui or the rendered frame window opens? that shouldn't happen with DR. You aren't using both V-ray distributed rendering and net rendering via backburner are you? It sort of sounds like you are possibly specifying that a machine should contribute via DR and then assigning (via backburner) that job to the machine...in which case it would try and distribute to itself (which won't go over well). askdeco
i installed fresh copies of the softwares , i didn't do any DR or ran the backburner for a net render. i just installed everything and when i clicked on the spawner to launch it so i can do DR from other machine to the current one, it loadeds, then try to launch 3D max , 3D max shows in the status bar for a sec, then i get an error from windows, that says 3D max stoped responding, and in the details it sais APPCRASH 3dmax.exe though if i launch 3Dmax without launching the spawner, 3Dmax opens normaly and vray works fine in it if i do a normal render on the local machine ,like if i am using a workstation. cgtiger
Hi Guys... about vrayspawner crashing.... I know what it is... I had the same problem about it. vray spawner kept crashing out. I basically contacted chaos group support about it, and they told me it was a known issue with the latest HOT FIXES from autodesk, and that chaos group had wrote a new .XML file that you over write in the root folder of MAX... this is for 2009 and 2010 32/64... It is now working. What I am saying is, contact chaos group about that problem, and they will send you a link to log in to your account, and they will post it up there for you. I did and all is well. hope that helps
askdeco
Thank you for your help , can you please post the .XML file somewhere so i can download it? because i tried to send chaos group an email but i had no luck. and here at my country i don't have a reseller for Chaos group products to contact. A.Mitov
If you have DR problems with Vray like servers not rendering, just open the file vraydummy2009.xml with a text editor and find this section 0 0 Just change it to look like this: vraydummy2009 0 0 Edited December 11, 2010 by A.Mitov
