is there a 3ds max tool that is like Form-Z's "Contour" tool?

Does anyone know of a Max plugin/tool/modifier that resembles Form-Z's "CONTOUR" tool? It allows for a single object to be slice according to reference plane (x,y,z, arbitrary) , and numeric increment.

It would allow for an effect like this: (see image 1, 10) http://inhabitat.com/2010/08/10/big-unveils-gigantic-cube-building-with-a-rooftop-park/ted-cube-building/?extend=1

the idea is to model the mass of the cube, subtract the spiral from that, then use this "contour" tool to establish the horizontal levels.

thanks.
