tecton3d
Does anyone know of a Max plugin/tool/modifier that resembles Form-Z's "CONTOUR" tool? It allows for a single object to be slice according to reference plane (x,y,z, arbitrary) , and numeric increment. It would allow for an effect like this: (see image 1, 10) http://inhabitat.com/2010/08/10/big-unveils-gigantic-cube-building-with-a-rooftop-park/ted-cube-building/?extend=1 the idea is to model the mass of the cube, subtract the spiral from that, then use this "contour" tool to establish the horizontal levels. thanks. Jose Negrete
you can use the section tool in the create shapes menu. that will generate a spline wherever you place the cutting plan. you can then take this spline and extrude it to get the floor slabs. Peter M. Gruhn
You can use shift-move cloning to make a bunch of evenly spaced copies quickly. I found that directly converting the section object to a spline gave me open curves. Using the section object's Create Spline button gave closed. Closed is good if you are making floor slabs.
