Alyosha
Hello, I've tried different solutions to create clouds and atmospherics, but each one of them has increased the rendering time at least by 100%. I've tried out dreamscape, vue and vray environment fog and they all chew resources like crazy. Is this a normal thing to occur or am doing something terribly wrong? It doesnt seem logical to me that a couple of, albeit volumetric, clouds would increase render time 2-3 times, but that seems to be the case. I expected at least vray volumetrics to perform better but they even increased it. Has anyone had any experience with above mentioned? Particulary dreamscape? mu_688687
You can try VRayComp Tex to create nice clouds.
STRAT
just use cloud background images or comp them in post. if you want a more 'interactive' atmos, render a couple of zdepth masks and layer it on in post.
Alyosha
Yeah i'll probably do it standard way with tex, but i was just wondering about the 3d options, i'm really enthusiastic about building whole scene completely 3d, thats why i've been looking into this lately but every atmospheric i try just creates crazy render times, does anyone know why? I mean for example vray alrdy does the environment and sun interaction, why adding a couple of volum clouds adds at least 2x render time???
