Hello Guys,

M working on a walkthrough & i am very excited about this project! Need little tips for good quality renderings. Attached few draft renders where i am almost done with the landscaping part. Materials over main building is yet to be done.

I am planing to render 40 sec exterior animation on 1920x1080 & with video filter, Adaptive DMC sampler ( Min 1, Max 5 ), pre calculated ( Fly-through) LC & pre calculated/Multiframe incremental IR ( 60 Hspr.subdiv, 30 Interp.samples, medium preset ) as primary & sec GI respectively,

I am planing to scale it down to 1280x720 in post production for better quality.

I have 7 days for rendering.

Need tips on followings-

Is my GI settings to high?

IR calculation taking long time, tips?

I am scared of flickering as thr are many trees in my scene.. any suggestion?

Awaiting for your response guys! Tips of Brian Smith, www.3dats.com are always helpful to me! Hope to get some good tips from him again :) Many Thanks!

Hey there! first, nice trees! do you use any special setup for them?? About the settings, i cant understand why you will render it in 1920 px and then scale it down, it is a totally waste of time, think that each frame will take longer because of the exra pixels and then you discard them, it dosent makes sense to me.

About the other settings, my experience showed me that its better to use area filter. About the DMC, 1-5 may be too low, just look at the previews noisy edges, when that takes movement will surelly flick. Try rising maybe to 1-12 or 16

With that amount of trees and a high poly count is usual that IR takes long to calculate, are you asking it to calculate every frame?? you can tell max to calcualte every 10 frames for example, and it will interpolate intermediate values.

About flickering, you wont notice that until you render a piece of animation, a good advice is to render 10 consecutive frames when you suspect flickering can appear.

hope it helps you, cheers!

Thanks azeta3d, trees are from evermotion & i have placed proxies of them randomly as per google earth image of that locations. For image size i am following Brian instructions from this thread ' http://forums.cgarchitect.com/22456-vray-animation-resolution.html'

i wil try increasing DMC, just worried about rendering time afterwards. I am calculating every 5th frame of sequence as my camera movement is little fast. Any comments on "IR ( 60 Hspr.subdiv, 30 Interp.samples, medium preset )"?
