Hi guys... off topic and I couldnt seem to post this in a more off-topic forum so its going here.

Im trying to find some examples of ways to attach glass stair treads to metal staircase etc... Have any of you CGA users for any photos that you want to share that show good detail of glass staircases such as the all glass one in the Mac Store in SoHo, NY?

Cheers

Hello

I design stairs for a living so I know a thing or two about stairs.

The simplest way is to have a 60x10mm plate welded to the stringer and using double sided tape! stick the tread to the plate.

Honest, it works we have been using it for years

Depending on the type of stair (straight, spiral helical etc.) you will need to link the stringers together though

The tread needs to be a laminate; top layer 19mm float, bottom layer 12mm toughened

The following address has a few glass stairs in it, but not a lot of detail

www.spiralstairs.co.uk

I can get more details to you if you need, just ask. If you need a hand drawing it I can give advise on that to.

Regards

Geoff

Just to chime in some additional information here that you may be interested in. We are developing a new product line of Glass Stair Systems based around point supported glass. It's a very flexible design that will work for straight as well as circular applications.

www.glassstairs.com or www.glassstair.com

The product website shows a variety of designs and applications along with details. There's also some pictures of some completed projects.

The same system can be used for Glass Bridge designs.

The top of the glass stair treads have a special texture that make them non-slip even when completely wet. This texture is created with sand granuals during the manufacturing process that allows them to be non-slip while keeping them transparent.

There's many different frits and textures that can be added to the treads to make them as non-slip as any other material.

I haven't idea about glass stair. In this connection I made a series of corroespondance to the glass manufacturer. They replied me that they would supply only glass, not steel structure of stair and fastner. I want to send the plan of stairs to some one who has design sense in this regards. I need help from the people who has idea .
