comatose
How fast can you model and what techniques do you use for 1.architectural visualization without CAD files and 2 With CAD files? Also, can Modo be as fast as sketchup? thanks for your input:D
djoshi
The Q you asked is not specific. Time & technique varies from person to person & project to project..No software is fast or slow, it is the method you apply for approach. If you are newbie for it, get the training from experts.. Thanks for your reply. I understand that different people have different techniques and thats why im asking for your tips. Some software is faster to build up models than others and from my exp sketchup is the quickest to build basic structures. For example - with CAD documents i can use a plugin to immediately add faces for extruding without having to trace the whole plan. Or I can select the lines in a plan that i want to turn into walls and (using a plugin) just type in the height and I have my walls. What I want to know is if Modo is as efficient as this - or even better?
Dave Buckley
a modo user would tell you that it is just as an experienced 3d max modeller would prefer max over sketchup. give it a go. and make the decision yourself. at the end of the day it's what you are comfortable with and what you find easier. you will be the one completing the models so what difference does if someone else finds it easier to model in modo. i'm proficient in sketchup and find it easy to model in that, so that's what I use. I wouldn't turn to modo just because someone else told me it was quicker. if they asked me what was quicker, i'd say sketchup, but purely because i've not used modo and i'm happy doing things the way i am. it fits my workflow
JonRashid
I agree. I have heard this discussion for the last 20yrs. Which is better, Maya, Max Softimage Alias etc. It isn't the software it's the guy (or girl) in front of it that counts - end of.
barbe-q
yea man u right...i actually started with 3ds max and kinda got lost in the modelling technics and tools...then i decided to try modo and to my amazement, i was just picking the tools and applying them like i knew the software long ago (but still got more to learn though)... i have friends who are good with C4D, 3ds max and Blender...:-)...like its been said hommie, it aint the software, its the user...all you need to do is to find the software you can easily get familiar with...people use Wnidows Paint to achieve what Photoshop executes >>>:-)
