blaz
I got 3 unit of dual xeon in my office, they all running in windows 2000. and 1 of them is my workstation, the other 2 is the slave for rendering. and recently we just add 5 pc in the workgroups. after that i got problem with my network, seems like they not allowed me to join the workgroup. even with my own slave machine. so, i create a new workgrop with is just my windows 2000 inside, seperated from the new machine, btw the new pc running in xp pro. so, what actually should i do with my network?, since i don't have a domain. if i create a domain is this problem will solve? we all work in the fix ip address, so cannot be any ip conflict and i just give up. anybody can help me, thanks in advance. bigcahunak
I had this before (2k - xp issue) and had a friend who's a network master for a hi teck company to solve it. Try adding "Netbui" protocol to all machines (for XP its hidden in the installation CD somewhere - if u dont find it LMK). I think it would solve it. Dont forget to restart all and wait a few minutes... Good luck.
blaz
hi, thanks for your info, i have install the netbeui, in my server i'll install in the xp today, i also feel the network getting slower, and i can't access my other machine, is this problem caused from the netbeui also, or because of to many users in the network. we don't have a network expert down here in the office, maybe we should get one.. thanks again for advice, man. abicalho
Make sure the users exist in all computers and their passwords are set. If a computer has a user called "Arq" with a password "CG", all computers need to have this user, and need to have permissions set for them. A Domain will do that in a centralized location for you, but you do not need that. Hope this helps, Alexander
