Dave Buckley
I'm seeing a lot of renders at the minute with hundreds and hundreds of books in them. Assuming everyone is texturing these manually, where does everybody go for book textures apart from Google Images? I'm also assuming people aren't scanning books they own
notamondayfan
Why wouldnt you scan books?
Dave Buckley
well I would - but I don't really own 500+ books I'm talking large scale, I guess i could get myself down the local library on a regular basis
notamondayfan
You can easily automate the process by mapping a few different book models, and then set up a photoshop template to drop all the sides onto. I guess the clever bit is figuring out how much detail, variation, etc you need to goto.
jinsley
If you need the whole jacket image then this won't work, but I just googled around for a hour or so a while back for search phrases like "library wall" etc... and then just clipped them out... since you typically only see the spine, this worked fine for me. forget scanning unless you need the jacket... waste of time... if you have to, take your camera and go photograph a bookcase or two and get a whole bunch at once.
