Help! Vray not using CPU properly!

I've been working on a project for the past week or two, it's a pretty big file and today for some reason VRay has stopped using all 4 (8 logical) cores, in fact it's so bad that it's not even properly using one core, the cpu usage at times literally reads 0%!

I've double checked that displacement is off, I deleted a few props from the scene but it still isn't working properly. I really am shitting myself right now because this has happened right at the last minute!

Any help and swift responses are greatly appreciated because I am seriously getting stressed out right now! :(

in your task manager..can you see the CPU usage per core? you ough to see 6 cores running, are them not reaching 100%?, if not reaching 100% when rendering it means that you vray is not set or installed properlly.

on the other hand, if they reach 100% and your render is still slow then your vraysettings are wrong.

btw, set you dynamic memory to only 3000 and not 6000.

Hi,

I had similar problem. My CPU i7 950 (4cores/8threads) 12gb RAM, While calculating LC used only 25% of all its power.. But as soon its started prepass and later rendering everything went perfect, CPU worked all 100%. I did try to increase dynamic memory to 12000 and to 6000 but still the same.. on task manager while calculating LC showed that only 4 threads was working..

So what i did was in LC parameters rollout, i increased Number of passes to 8.. (i think 8 is by default) but some how it was only 2 in my case.. and boom.. my cpu works 100% all the time. Maybe i decreased that parameter hoping to save some time..
