salvador
Hi there, I'll post this issue in an organized way: SCENE DESCRIPTION Exterior animations. 300 frames per clip (10 sec aprox). Lots of trees (vray proxies) no glossies/translucency/refraction on vegetation at all. Mainly houses (proxies too), street, grass and trees. No displacement on any element. RENDERING SETTINGS 720x480 frames. Precalculated LC in fly-thruogh mode, then loaded from file. IRR Map medium setting 35 hsp subdivs, pretty normal. Incremental add, autosaved file. AA: Adpative DMC clr threshold on, value according to quality for every clip. Daylight Vraysun, Vrayky, Vray Physical camera. LWF all along. PROBLEM. LC precalcs in about 3 min. per sequence. No problem. IRR Map loads and reloads and runs fine. 4 min avg. for all pre-passes. After IRR Map is finished for every frame, there is a loooooong lag before the frame actually renders. 7 min the longest. This doubles the total animation rendertime. Another funny thing is that this doesn´t happen on every clip and/or on every machine. So far it's a rather random behvaiour. Any ideas? anejo
I had a similar issue. Is this a network render?
thatch
What message does vray display when its waiting? It Could be calculating a pre render process like motion blur samples or interpolating reflection/refractions on materials?
salvador
@anejo: no; single workstation, all files and maps on the same machine. For every clip, the max file and the maps folder are loaded to the machine that will do the task. @thatch: the message is already "rendering image" although the VFB only displays the result of the IRRMap calc. It might be pre-render as you say, but I have a minimun amount of glossies, reflections/refractios, etc. Besides, as I mentioned before, it doesn't happen for all the clips. Still haven't found the answer, but one guess is that maybe the memory cache is saturated when this happens, so maybe turning off the computer and re-starting might help.
