Hi all,

Probably a topic much discussed here...

Our studio is looking to completely move over to 3DS Max 2011 from 3DS Max9.

Could I get some opinions on how 2011 is working, if there are any major problems etc? (I've read that it has some problems).

Pretty keen to update to the latest version of max here but am aware new releases can often be buggy.

I'm pretty happy with it at the minute, not really having many problems now after the 2 hotfix releases.

There are still some things which people dislike about it but it doesn't necessarily mean bugs.

Things like the Caddy feature seems to be a bit of a dislike amongst users.

But as Nils said, give it a quick search on here and other forums to find out the relevant info. You will only get peoples personal opinions etc, and one persons bug may not be relevant to you as it may be in a feature that you don't use or wouldn't use in your daily tasks.

Grab a trial and have a play.

Although people have been bagging Max forever, I have recently become more interested in what other packages can do. Mainly looking at their feature set, and trying a few out.

What I have found is that some features that max has had for a long time others are only releasing them now. Things like ies lighting, sun and sky systems, portal lights, dwg& dxf I/O and strangly enough real units.

Now Max is bringing in some new features that the other packages have had and people are struggling to like them. Things like the Node editor and caddies like interface.

There is a significant change from Max9 to Ma2011 that might take a little while to get used to, but IMO they are changes for the better. Give it a try
