Maxwell Tutorials

Hi guys im looking for a good resource of maxwell tutorials. Im using the plugin to max rather than the studio. Ive got some good results so far and I want to try and develop my understanding.

 

The main issue I've been having is achieving DOF. I have set up a standard max target camera. I want to mess around with the DOF but i can't find any settings to make this work. The Maxwell website is fairly limited in terms of resources.

That said, the best tutorials for things like DOF will often come, not from rendering websites, but from photography websites. That's the best thing about an unbiased renderer is that it works off of real life camera properties and physics so if you find camera settings that work in real life, they'll also work in Maxwell.

 

What are you trying to render exactly? If you're doing jewelry or something small like that DOF should be pretty easy. But if you're doing architecture it will be nearly impossible to get anything very noticeable, simply because that's how real life works.
