Tommy L
I have the following setup: 1 server, w7pro 1 workstation, w7 ultimate 8 x nodes, xp64 All are connected via a LinkSys 16 port ethernet switch, rendering with backburner. The problem: My nodes keep dropping connection to the mapped drive on the server. I cant find a reason, it just happens on all nodes at the same time. I restart the server and all the connections work again. Any ideas? It is currently very disruptive to my work....
cupsster
Hello Tom, try to look out for how long is IP valitd cause switch usualy assign IP for some time period after nodes might try to reconnect again.. also try to implement static IP or chose some server version of windows casuse it can handle more conections at same time and generally i think is more apropriate to manage data transfers to nodes.. Take this with reserve.. only my toughts.. ps: alos check for automount feature of drive.. i have same problem on win64xp node apears as unmounted until I mannualy open it.. i just think that i can write *.bat file to open that drive at startup.. doesn't know if it will work Edited September 10, 2010 by cupsster
Tommy L
Thanks Peter, I shall look into your suggestions. I dont really want to purchase more windows and I dont think I should have to. Used to work perfectly until an 'expert' came and tweaked a few things. How do I check how long the IP is valid for? cupsster
Consult manual for your switch of course and log into it if you never done it. Click-trough all menu's highly recomended...
Tommy L
OK, thanks. One other thing, it doesnt seem to do it at regular intervals, more under heavy load.
