tcupp
I need help. Havn't used Vray in a while. I am getting a good result when rendering my low res test renders 300x200. Once I bump it up for my final render 1500x1000 I get a crash. It's due Monday so help/tips would be greatly appreciated.
abed mash.
try to reduce the vertex by using proxy... good luck
njoco2
If you are using a 32bit system then it is most likely to be a memory problem. You will have to convert the objects in your scene to vray proxies and tweak the vray rendering settings. I would help if you post your current rendering settings. cheers
tcupp
I have little VRAY experience. I pretty much just hack my way through so using proxies is something new to me. Any direction here would be greatly appreciated. I am on a 64 bit machine - 8 gig of ram. So, I would not think that memory is an issue. I did try taking the file for a 32 bit machine and it bombed out right away there. With that said, it seems to always be crashing at the "Prepass". A screen cap of the render dialogue is attached. As for my VRAY settings, they are also attached. Thanks a ton for the help. On a side note, I am attempting to render smaller regions but it does not look like it is going to work either. tcupp
Nevermind on the proxy explanation. Did a search of the forum and I understand it now. Regardless, any tips on my setup would be appreciated.
carlotristan3d
had the same problem even though i used a lot of proxies, but somehow solved it when i used LC for my secondary bounce.
mu_688687
Change your Dynamic Memory to Dynamic instead of Auto as your have kept 400 so it will take lot of time and change you max tree depth to 50-60 and face to 2-3 this will help you a lot. Good Luck.
tcupp
Light cache did not work. Neither did changing my default geometry/dynamic memory settings as suggested. It seems to always crash right at the end of the first prepass. Can the amount of prepasses be modified...what controls that. I am going to further explore setting up proxies but it does not look promising. Edited September 20, 2010 by tcupp
Crazy Homeless Guy
It is probably best to post the scene, or send it to someone who has time to tweak it for you. We could tell you all day what we think needs adjusted, but without actually working on it we will never know.
tcupp
I ended up changing both the primary and secondary to light cache and that did the trick. Also, it seemed to help to change Maxs priority in the Task Manager to high so that it could take all of my processor.
