Loft twist on first vertex.

I'm trying to model something like this

http://abcd007.en.made-in-china.com/product/LejmqNwbQlcS/China-Modern-Sculptures-CS-166A001-1-.html

I've drawn a spline for the path and a shape to loft it with. My trouble is that on the first vertex the model twists before banking. I've tried using different vertex firsts and read Ted Boardmans' tutorials on here but can't figure out a way to solve it. Anyone got any ideas?

I also get the same problem if I use sweep.

Just do it with turbosmooth on top and classic box modelling... Should be pretty simple. max 10min!

Thanks for the reply but not sure it could be done in 10 mins with all the extruding, rotating and scaling I'm after, that's why I wanted to loft it so I can use the deforms. Kinda got a work around by converting to edit poly and removing the twist then bridging it but still not as nice as one complete loft operation. Must be a way of doing it.

Thanks for getting back. I sorted it by using the twist deform and lining up the bits before and after the twist as best I could, then edit poly, delete the twisted bit and weld the verts together as it gave a nicer transition than bridging. Long winded but was happy with the result.
