vozdra
hey guys, i imported a model from sketchup and wanted to apply a rusty metal material to the surface. I only wanted to apply in to one surface and not the whole object so i converted it to an editable poly and added the materials to the surface while the polygon selector was selected. hopefully that makes sense. When i went to render the image the scene showed just a single colour and not the material?? i created a box right next to it in max and applied the same material and it applied to the material and works fine. the process used for applying material was material editor- vraymtl - selected box next to diffuse- bitmap- selected my material then applied it i dont know if its the model that i imported from sketchup?? Im not sure what the problem is? HELP!
vozdra
u just tried making a simple box and importing into sketchup and i made a box next to it in max. Then max box material work where as the sketchup imported box didnt. it just came up with a colour so im assuming it has something to do with the sketchup file
Stephen Thomas
The difference is that a box created in max will have inherent UVW mapping while the sketchup mesh will not. All you have to do is apply a UVW map modifier to the object and it should be resolved.
