aaronrumple
I've got a large site which was imported from LandXML. Which Looks grreat from and aerial view, but when doing a walkthough the detail is too rough. Is there anyway to smooth out slected points or edges in a mesk to clean up this topo. I had to remodel all the curbs to get them smooth enough. Draging points in the mesh isn't accurate enough to clean up the edges and in some cases makes it worse. bev.lynn
Aaron, My first thought is does the LandXML file actually contain the roadway centerline alignment? If it does, then you can create a box the width of the pavement to any height and convert it to an editable mesh, then loft it along the centerline. Now use the boolean cut-split option and this should result in smoother edges. (You may have to subdivide the mesh adjacent to the roadway to get a smoother cut) If you don't have the centerline, you could go the the top view and create splines that match the edges of pavement, close the spline, extrude it, then use the boolean cut-split option. This has worked for me. I hope it helps!
Jose Negrete
i wish you could use something like the normalize spline modifier on a selection of vertices in an editable poly object. if that is available in some type of script it would be helpful for me too
