Blender and architectural visualisation?

As a 3ds max user I am to be dragged, (kicking and screaming), into the world of Blender as part of a Masters year. But perhaps I am being too pesamistic about Blender? It does seem to be a pretty powerful application and undoubtedly there are some excellent results however can it really play a part in the architectural visualisation industry? I'd be interested in your thoughts...

Hope this isn't considered resurrecting an old thread (6 months too long? I don't know), but I'd like to chime in here. I've been using Blender 2.5 beta for a while now, and I'm impressed with the improvements to the interface. It's still not as easy as Maya or Max, but it's definitely a 500% improvement over the 2.4x interface. I've used Blender for a few projects recently, and I've been impressed with the increased stability, the community-made tutorials and, of course, the price. For me, that's the crux of it. I've started my own studio, I'm debt-free, and under those circumstances, Autodesk products are not in the running for me. David, thanks for the link. I'm checking out that site right now!
