CliveG
Being confused by all of the conflicting advise about LWF that can be read on this forum and various tut's etc. - I thought I'd try an experiment with a simple model, one plane light of fixed intensity and changing many of the relevant settings and seeing what the results look like. Attached are a few of the 48 resulting jpegs as an example. Do any of the more knowledgable contributors think this is a valid sort of a test if not what should I do for a clearer empirical test - because for my uses this test has failed in that it hasn't really clarified ANYTHING for me other than actually proving the incorrectness of some statements made in other threads / tut's. I'm absolutely convinced of the sense and logic of using LWF but can't actually find the best approach for me. I'm on a flat screen and prefer very little Post processing for simplicity and for the moment I use more materials from Archvision and from web resources due to my inexperience at producing my own complex mat's so don't have the same control over the formation of corrected materials as part of my workflow. I want to prove for myself what strategy is going to work best... any suggestions as to how best to set my experiment up? (incidentally depspite what the text says all settings were either 1.0 2.2 or .45)
notamondayfan
There is no right or wrong way to render an image, just find out what works best for you and gives you the best results. Generally I find LWF works fine for me 99.5% of the time, but I'm sure others have their own setups that work well for them.
