same object many materials

Hi, does anyone know of a way to assign multiple materials (NOT multi/sub object matrial)

on a single object then render those materials by element via multiple VrayMtlSelect.

 

This would really be great help rendering a floor with a lot of carpet/tile options without having to reassign a map and re-render a region.

Unfortunately, its not just a simple color change. Color changes is easy to remedy with just a mask. But carpet/tiles pattern change is tedious. Rendering a selection and changing the map for every carpet pattern is no walk in the park when you have about a hundred more to go. :(

You could mask out all other objects other than your flooring. You do this by right clicking with all of your objects selected that you want to mask out, click on vray properties, check matte object box, set alpha contribution to -1.0. Then if you hit render only your carpet/flooring will render drastically cutting down your render times.
