kenpimentel
Just wanted to share a little of some research we've been working on for a few years: http://area.autodesk.com/blogs/ken/people_power_teaser
Fran
Looks very cool Ken. I also like the building - just thought I'd throw that in there.
jinsley
Looks very interesting... are the styles customizable?

ihabkal
Just wanted to share a little of some research we've been working on for a few years: http://area.autodesk.com/blogs/ken/people_power_teaser I think you are doing a great job but that also there is much more use for this technology, imagine doing a system that would emulate panic, disorganization, in case of fire or a terrorist attack, now that software would help designers improve on fire and emergency exits in stadiums and large installations. Macer
Ihabkal, the fire escape simulation already exists: http://www.iesve.com/Software/VE-Pro/Simulex for 2d planning at least. But from a visualisation point of view this looks very interesting! Hopefully I'll be able to spot further info at this years virtual AU.
kenpimentel
re: visualization vs analysis We want to solve the "believable" crowd motion problem first. Once we have done that, we are researching methods of using this for analysis. For example, the Kynapse path-finding AI that we use can tell us what is the fastest way to go from point A to point B in any structure. It can also handle moving objects that block the path temporarily (elevators, doors, destroyed sections of a structure, etc.). With the environmental intelligence we'll have, we should be able to do some interesting things.
Devin Johnston
I'd just like to add that if your going to build a people simulator give some thought regarding how customizable the people should be and also make sure you have a high quality option for those that need more detailed models. Nothing worse than having the same entourage hanging around in every animation you do as well as all those done by every other studio...
kenpimentel
Agreed. That has been a primary design intent for this effort. Randomization coupled with selective trait characteristics that you control.
