3 gigabyte switch

Hi guys

 

i sometimes have ram problems and a friend suggested to me to insert the 3 gigabyte switch line in the boot.ini file

 

can someone explain to me in plain english what this is and how/when and should i use it? only i cant find anything in plain easy to understand language in google.

Personally, i had serius trouble with ram when tring to render big scene with Vray at 8000 pix with, the sistem ran out of memory and max crashes, so i tried to make that switch, but unfortunally i couldn´t, the sistem won´t start.

That´s why i strongly recomend you to copy the last line of the Boot.ini and modify that second instance, that way when you start, you will be asked wicht way to run, and if something goes wrong it will automatically restart, and you than can choose your default sistema configuration again.
