Christiansltd
Has anybody used Multi Scatter using MentalRay, is there any big postive to use with V-ray instead ? Also can you use other trees with it or only the tree packs that they sell ? Thanks in advance
Jim Mann
I was looking at Vrayscatter and multiscatter for use with Vray last week and asked a very similar question. I tried installing the demos but without success and then a few people recommended/suggested Forestpack http://www.itoosoft.com/english/menu.php?id=forestpack_description. I tried the free version (only works on flat planes) and quickly jumped to buying the "pro" version so that I could apply the forests to sloping or 3D topography - I am doing images for a development by a river with steep forested hills. I have Xfrog, onyx and my own plants and trees in there and it works an absolute treat. Definitely worth a look and the free version is worth a try whilst you wait for an answer to your question relating to Mental Ray and Multiscatter. Christiansltd
Thanks for the reply Jim, I am currently using vue 8.5 and am just looking at other options as I have seen some really nice work with multi scatter. I will have a look at forest pro though.
Jim Mann
Forest Pro is definitely worth a look but if you are used to Vue, have you considered Carbon scatter? http://www.cgarchitect.com/news/newsfeed.asp?nid=5027 I know, yet more scattering but this one is by e-on and appears to use the vue ecosystems. I was really impressed with Vue's ecosystems but could never get the x-stream part to work with Max in a way that was remotely useful to me so gave up on it rather than torture myself further. Carbon scatter might go some way to fixing this. Jim
