How to make shell/oblique sides

Hi folks.

I have asked everywhere, but no one is replying to my question, so here goes.

I have a question on how to make oblique sides on shapes in 3ds max design 2010, which is imported from an illustrator drawing. I have two shapes I want to connect to each other, one placed a bit lower than the other. I want to make a shell/oblique wall from them.

Though I have tried to connect the two shapes and put a shell modifier on it, it makes some weird shapes on the surface.

I have tried to illustrate what I mean on the attached images.

The small image to the left on image 1 is what I want to achieve, and the weird shapes is on the second image.

I really hope someone can help.

make sure, the splines have the same amount of vertices and are oriented in the same way. When connecting splines like this, Max will create connections or polygons along the vertices. Vertice 1 on spline 1 will be connected to vertice 2 on spline 2 and so on and if vert 2 is on the opposite side of spline 1 or if the vertice amounts dont match weird stuff is the outcome.

Anyway, creating a remote like in your example would be a lot easier by boxmodeling it IMO.
