Selling 3D Models

I was looking for some information on selling 3d models. How does it work--if you sell your models on turbosquid can you also sell them on another site? Is there an exclusivity clause or something? Thanks!

You can choose yourself whether to become exlusive or not, as youd expect, if you do you get better rates.

 

Turbosquids exclusive program is called the Squidguild, if youre not in it you can only ever earn 40%, and if you are it goes up with each level which is to do with sales figures, but you can reach 60% i beleive. You also get better perks at each level compared to non-guilders.

 

Others have similar systems, though most with better rates. But obviously you are paying a premium for being with Turbosquid as its the biggest out there. It usually depends on your models etc as to whats best for you. For me it was a no brainer as i sold next to nothing on all the other sites i used, so I was just as well to go exclusive. Though for others i know thats not the case.

 

3DS have one deal where you dont have to be exclusive as such but you have to agree to keep your models there for x number of years, though you can sell elsewhere. Its basically to stop people joining the guild but again, it obviously is quite attractive to a number of people.
