Crazy Homeless Guy
I found this on CGTalk, which was a quote from The Area. Doing this allowed me to revert back to the old dialog for Chamfer etc.. It disables the new Caddies, and it works. (Posted by user 'Ruramuq' on Area) To prevent caddies, and go back to old dialogs: EditPolyMod.dlm EPoly.dlo (max2010 to max2011) backup 2011 files, also Caddies.gup
Dave Buckley
gotta admit, and i'm probably not going to live to post another message . . . but . . . i actually like them now
Crazy Homeless Guy
I never ran the script that keeps them centered, so they were always jumping all over the screen for me. And by all over I mean from far top right corner to far bottom left corner. I also find them rather difficult to read when they are on top of lots of geometry and lines. Camby, who sits next to me, said that he likes them too. Still a little to chaotic for me.
Dave Buchhofer
Never really got used to them, Thanks for the tip.
BrianKitts
I don't mind them so much any more, I just wish it would stay in place..... where's this magic centering script?

I wish they would sit still and Id be just fine with them, its pretty frustrating trying to chase after the arrows on a deadline; feels like Max is trying to play childish games at times ("You Cant Catch Me" Theme). And it would also be nice to add a 50% opacity white background to the caddy to help it pop out better against the geometry on the screen.
Justin Hunt
the centering script makes a huge diference, once I ran it I started to like caddies and became more productive. jhv
Crazy Homeless Guy
...for those that need the centering scripts, try one of the links below. One thing I didn't realize is that you can also adjust the transparency and spacing of the 'boxes.' Maybe I can tweak them to my liking. http://forums.cgsociety.org/showpost.php?p=6485600&postcount=8 http://forums.cgsociety.org/showpost.php?p=6719577&postcount=
Dave Buckley
works perfectly, keeps it nicely to the right just next to my command panel and doesn't jump around. for those that can't be bothered to type all 6 lines themselves then here you go. just extract into scripts>startup
AJLynn
I find that for disabling caddies, a 9-iron or pitching wedge is actually best. You might be tempted to go for a 3 hybrid, but with the longer shaft and heavier head it can take longer to get up to speed if your balance is at all off (e.g., if the caddy is running away). It's by far the least used club in my bag. I don't want to damage a club for the sake of getting rid of a bad caddie. All the same be sure to use a stiff shaft, flexible shafts will take some of the sting out of the impact! joking aside.... thanks for the centering scripts, silly how something so simple improves working conditions.
