Brian Cassil
I need to update my 3D Cars library and I was wondering what some of you thought were the best options for the money these days. I have about 20 Sugar 3D cars but I'm wondering if there is something equitable to those, maybe for less money. I need something for Max and VRay and mostly american makes. Devin Johnston
I think Dosch Design's cars are pretty nice, they look about the same as Sugar 3D's.
Crazy Homeless Guy
I'll second the Dosch cars. We use the 2006 and 2007 dvd's on nearly ever project. I am not a big fan of their mroe recent releases due to lack of U.S. made cars or more precisely cars sold in the U.S.. The 2006 and 2007 have a mix of foreign and US. When we add more I may look into the Evermotion cars as I think they are detailed better from what I see online, but they are at least twice as expensive as the Dosch. All in all Dosch models give you a lot of bang for the buck.
BrianKitts
My last purchase was axyz which I didn't even realize till I started looking that they had cars. 100 USD for 10 cars, was a pretty good deal. The collections are half US cars half foreign, but I was looking for a prius with a few others and the prices was definately right so it worked out. http://www.axyz-design.com/axyz-design-3d-cars-textured-models-collection1.php

Every rendering in SF needs a Prius or two. Come to think of it, I should probably prep this for use also.... http://www.3dvia.com/content/9337B7899BADBF91/
carlotristan3d
There's a website called archidom, hundreds of vehicle models and free.
davistalexander
There are a number (25) of AXYZ cars included with the 3dsmax/design 2011 cd2. There are mental ray material applied to the cars and is was a good exercise for VrayRT, the new Slate material Editor and I to become intimately acquainted by converting the MR mats to Vray. Brian Cassil
Travis & Devin: I'll check out the Dosch cars. Thanks! Brian: I'll check the axyz stuff out too. It's not that I don't want foreign cars, I just need common imports here in the states. You guys get it. Tristan: The russian website makes me a little nervous about pirated material. How legit do you know them to be? Davis: I never got any CD's with my max 2011 subscription. My reseller told me that Autodesk wasn't distributing CD's anymore. I'll have to call and ask him about that again.

I tried putting a smart car in a rendering once and the designer made me take it out, he thought it screwed with the scale of the building! Come to think of it, all you would need to accurately portray vehicles for a project in SF is: Prius's, Smart Cars and Vespas. Where can you get Vespas models???? davistalexander
Davis: I never got any CD's with my max 2011 subscription sorry about that. Its in the sample file download on the subscription center.. there are also a couple of marlin trees and Axyz People. I made backup DVD of the 2011 d/l so i won't have to search/dl it again unless absolutly necessary. carlotristan3d
We get desperate once and needed construction vehicles and found that site. The models are low poly and does not come with textures, really not sure about copyright issues. As with all free stuff on the net-proceed with caution., Travis & Devin: I'll check out the Dosch cars. Thanks! Brian: I'll check the axyz stuff out too. Davis I was amazed at how much of the axyz velocity cars collection was included in that subscription download! Even if you don't have a Max sub to get them for free, they are reasonably priced and have a good mix of foreign and domestic (US) vehicles per pack.
