odyzmil
Hello all, I have a small situation here.Let me explain. I have my master pc working as the manager and a couple of other pcs that I used for networking rendering so far. I've latelly installed a Solid state hard disk on my master pc working as my C: drive and Ive moved all my models, maps etc on a new hard disk labelled E:. This causes me a problem since all my maps on the other pc's are on C: drive therefore always having my maps missing when i sent a job over for network rendering since they follow the E:/Maps whatever path. Has anyone faced this problem before and if theres any solution to it.Either through 3D max or a Windows solution (possibly create a virtual drive?). I know I can create a partition on the other pcs and label it E: but it is kind of tedious to do that. Also id rather not relink my maps every time I need to do network rendering. Thank you
Crazy Homeless Guy
There are 3 ways I can think of off hand to solve your problem... 1) Is the proper thing to do in my opinion, share the drive where your local files are stored on E. Instead of mapping to them through the drive letter, map to them through your computer name. This should allow the other computers to pull them directly from your master drive in order to render. 2) When you send to render with Backburner, there is an option to send the textures along with the file. Do this, and you should be good. However, I don't know how well this will work with proxies. 3) When you send to render through Backburner, there is an option to use alternative path. Tick this, and then type in the address where your assets are on the local computer. Meaning C:\assets\textures\ ...or whatever you are using. I am not sure what this will do if you then add your local computer to the farm. The easiest immediate solution will probably be just to send the textures, number 2. However, long term I think you should look at a shared drive.
