ivanjay
Hi all, Is there a way to model a recessed light fixture and have it automatically cut through the ceiling similar to how an AEC door automatically cuts out a wall when linked? Typically I put my lights just a touch under my ceiling to fake it but in this case it is a unique fixture and I need to model it. I really do not want to have to boolean each hole for the ceiling only to fill it later if something changes. If it automatically subtracted liked the doors/wall example that would be perfect! qqcb2000
Hi, one thing you could do is to use a cylinder that covers the volume of the luminaire inside the ceiling object. After put this cylinder in every place the luminaire is in. Then make a pro boolean object using the ceiling object as the base object, and pick every cylinder to make a substraction of the ceiling. Try to hold this pro boolean whithout collapsing it in order to allow the edition of the ceiling for future changes that could be necessary. Finally, replace a copy of all cylinders with the luminaire objects, baring in mind that it would be easier if both of them have the same pivot position. I hope it will be helpful. That is essentially what I have done in the past (only I have used boolean and not proboolean, I am not sure what the difference is). Is there a way to link the boolean so if I need to slide a light fixture down it automatically moves the cut-out? Again trying to mimic the walls/doors feature....
