F J
sup, how do u apply a texture to a plane but have the map display in real-size instead of stretching to fit the plane? in other words, how do i know the size of the plane i wanna create to match the size of the texture? (since my system units = centimeters and all i know about the texture is that its res = 2048px by 2048px) will temporarily switching system units to Generic Units n create a 2048x2048 plane be accurate? also, what program r people using these days to make their textures seamless? thx Edited October 23, 2010 by F J
Devin Johnston
In most cases you have to give an educated guess as to the actual dimensions of a map. For instance if you have a picture of a brick wall you can count the number of horizontal and vertical bricks and figure out how big that wall really is, then you adjust your UVW map to the appropriate size. Koper
The best way to get a seamless texture is to do them in photoshop and paint the seams out, use the offset tool to see the seams. To get the correct size (aspect ratio) of a texture on the object, apply a uvw map, then in the modifier settings, scroll down and select 'fit to bitmap' and go and select the texture map.
