raymondfan Posted November 1, 2010 Share Posted November 1, 2010 (edited) hi guys, i wanted to do a render for my lamp design, and somehow i couldn't seem to make the shadows right, i was hoping that the patterns would cast on the wall, but instead the shadow seems to be too soft. I tried pushing it up right against the wall so the shadow would be more clearcut, but that doesn't seem to work, and I've also tried the "size" (radius) of the vray light (sphere) smaller but that also doesn't seem to work and i played around with shadow bias and stuff like already, so i hope you guys can tell me what i am doing wrong, and what are the factors or i mean functions in order to make this right. this photo the one on the left is a test render and the one on the right is a photo, i hope the light in the render could cast shadows like the one in the photo did. hope someone could help me on this Edited November 2, 2010 by raymondfan Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Alyosha Posted November 2, 2010 Share Posted November 2, 2010 (edited) hey, sharpness of shadows should be regulated by size of the light source tbh i think your main problem here is lack of light intensity, just shoot it up and see what you get, regulate any possible burn outs by using color mapping instead of lowering light intensity also make sure you have as small light source as you need to obtain sharp shadows, and if you need a bigger light source to achieve lightbulb-thingy effect instead make your primary light invisible and use another, larger light for the purpose of this, just make sure you exclude everything from it's influence Edited November 2, 2010 by Alyosha Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
